by sophia + colby, chasing robins media · provo, utah
- most important: see a full gallery from one real wedding, not just highlights.
- ask about: backup plans, timelines, and what is included.
- gut check: did you feel comfortable on the call?
- compare: score each photographer right after the call.
choosing a photographer is a big decision, and a good call can feel hard to read. we made this list so you know what to ask, and what a good answer sounds like. print it, bring it to your calls, and use the scorecard to compare your top three.

how they shoot
- can i see a full gallery from one wedding? consistent editing and real moments from start to finish.
- how do you direct on the day? an answer that matches how you want to feel in front of the camera.
- who will be photographing my wedding? the person you met.
- how do you handle family photos? a plan, a list, and a calm way to get through it fast. our family photo list helps.
the day itself
- will you help build the timeline? yes, and they ask about light and breathing room.
- what if you are sick or gear fails? a backup photographer and cameras with two card slots.
- what if it rains? they have shot it before and have a plan.
- do you work with a videographer? how they split the day so you are not photographed twice.

getting your photos
- when do we get sneak peeks and the full gallery? real ranges, like days for sneak peeks and weeks for the full gallery.
- how many photos should we expect? a rough number, all fully edited.
- can we print and share freely? a print release, so you never pay again to print.
- how long is the gallery stored? downloads included and a clear storage window.
money and contract
- what is included, and what costs extra? no surprises on travel, extra hours, or albums.
- what is the payment schedule and reschedule policy? a simple retainer and a clear plan if your date moves.
- do you carry liability insurance? many venues require it.
- do you charge for travel? a clear travel policy, especially for canyons or destinations.
how to choose
after each call, score each photographer from 1 to 5 on a few things: do their photos feel like you, did you feel comfortable, were their answers clear, and does your gut say yes. green flags are full galleries, clear contracts, and a call before you book. red flags are pressure to book fast or vague answers. the scorecard puts it all on one page.
