no wedding vision yet? a 15-minute worksheet to find your style
by sophia + colby, chasing robins media · provo, utah
- good news: you do not need a pinterest board to have taste
- time needed: about 15 minutes, with your partner
- what you get: a short list of what you love and what to skip
- best part: it makes every later decision faster
plenty of couples get engaged and feel nothing like they are supposed to. no theme, no colors, no board. that is normal, and it is usually fine. you do not have a vision yet. you do have opinions.
this worksheet pulls those opinions out of you in about fifteen minutes. we made it because it is the easiest way to tell a vendor what you want, even if you cannot describe it.
start with what you do not like
this is the fastest path. most people know what they dislike before they know what they love. write down three things you hope your wedding is not, like stuffy, loud, or formal. the opposite of that is a start.

five questions for you and your partner
- what was the best party or dinner you ever went to, and why?
- which three words would you want a guest to use afterward?
- where do you feel most like yourselves: outdoors, at home, in a city?
- what would you spend extra on without thinking about it?
- what do you both want to remember in thirty years?
turn answers into a style
look for the words that repeat. if you keep saying outdoors, relaxed, and a long dinner, you have a direction. you can share those words with your photographer, florist, and venue instead of a pinterest board. it works better than you would think.
use it when you book
when you meet us, we ask what you want your day to feel like. couples who did this worksheet answer faster and book with more confidence. if you are early in planning, our first look guide is a good next read.
